Free Fire’s Anitta Squad has won the People’s Voice Webby Award for Public Service and Social Impact, alongside Loro Piana’s The Gift of Kings, which has received the Webby Award for the Best Use of Web3 Technology. AKQA’s work has also been recognised with five Nominees and four Honourees, making it AKQA’s most successful year yet.
The Webby Awards is the leading international award honouring excellence on the Internet and recognising influential creators driving conversation at the intersection of technology and culture. Presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, the awards have a judging body of over 3,000 members.
People’s Voice Winner
Free Fire collaborated with global chart-topping singer Anitta and AKQA Casa to support in-game inclusivity and highlight the representation of female and LGBTQIAP+ players. Anitta is spotlighted as the first female celebrity to transform into a playable Free Fire character, using the nickname her fans call her, The Boss. The new single, Squad, launches the partnership with a vibrant music video to portray the Boss’ epic arrival in the game scene.
