Politics and Policy Winner, Finalist for Finance and Best World-Changing Ideas Latin America

Congresso em Foco Transparency Card

Every year, Brazil loses about $40bn to corrupt political spending, which is difficult to monitor and allows room for corruption.

Transparency Card accesses complex government databases and sends notifications when politicians spend taxpayers’ money, simplifying the visualisation and monitoring of political spending. Brazilians can now receive real-time, information with a simple push notification in a straightforward format.

Over 430K active cards are in mobile wallets and more than 20 million notifications have been sent. Additionally, the Transparency Card also served as an investigative resource for journalists who wrote news based on the expenses exposed by the platform.
